Hand drawn fictitious maps on paper
The maps I have created since I was about five have mostly
been of fictitious places that I create often inspired by real
locations that I have visited.
Until fairly recently I have been drawing these maps just
for myself, but was asked if what I was doing was a recognized
art form. This caused me to re-think and helped me to really
consider the maps as works of art. I have since formed Artimaps LLC.
Hand drawn fictitious maps on wood
The maps I have created on wood in recent years have
been inspired by the fact that certain pieces of wood
really look like the grain could be the contour elevation lines
on a map. I try to let any grain in the wood determine where
the main features are going to appear, such as the rivers
and hills.
